One of my ongoing challenges is to limit the amount of topics i learn about.

That may sound a bit daft on the face of it, so i'll explain.

Here's a list of the main topics that have been engaging me in recent times, in no particular order:
  • Computer science: Lambda calculus, type theory, process calculi, relational databases

  • Programming languages: Haskell, Scheme, Perl6

  • Mathematics: Category theory, (point-set) topology

  • Spirituality: Kabbalah, tarot

  • Human languages: Ivrit / Hebrew
. . . . and that's me being 'disciplined' about not spreading myself too thin. :-P If i had enough time and energy, i'd also be trying to learn Hindi and Auslan, reading books on ways to resist queer assimilationism, and studying European and Jewish philosophy. Yes, i admit it: i'm a problem thinker. ;-) And of course, all the above is on top of me doing the sort of things i mentioned in my previous post. Which sadly means that i've tended to do lots of study regarding the above topics, but far less time putting that study into practice: i really want to be contributing code to a Haskell or Scheme project, for example, but i'm struggling to find the space to do it.

Ah, Balance, Balance, where art thou?
