Yesterday i spent some time with [livejournal.com profile] not_in_denial and [livejournal.com profile] tacomonkey at their place; nowhere near as much as i would have liked, primarily because i under-estimated how long it would take to travel from my place to theirs via pt - two hours each way, as it turned out. Still, any time with [livejournal.com profile] not_in_denial and [livejournal.com profile] tacomonkey is time well-spent, in my opinion. :-)

Ack, so much to do, and not enough time and energy to do it . . . . it's so frustrating . . . !

i don't suppose anyone knows what terminfo setting(s) influence whether a terminfo-based cup escape sequence is sent to the terminal raw, instead of being interpreted?

I hated when I lived near [profile] not_in_denial and I had to take PT, everything was at least and hour away.

*sad nod* When we were living in Heidelberg Heights, we once took pt to a poly event that was being held in a restaurant on Brunswick Street. It was a Saturday, and so, as i recall, the journey took something like an hour and a half - compared to about 15 minutes by car. :-/

horray for melbourne's public transport network, I was lucky enought to be in a postion to get a car when I got into latrobe university, otherwise it could have been quite a bit of fun trying to get there.

*is sooo jealous ;).* Ok, we all have to all move in together. So there! :)

*hmms*I've had a poke for terminfo stuff, but I haven't found out how to change the mode, except through curses.

Well, the (clearly highly important!) situation is this: i'm opening NetHack in an xterm from the fluxbox menu, using the -ti option to specify which terminal type to use (e.g. "xterm -ti vt100 -e nethack"). The reason i'm doing this is because when i use a vanilla xterm, ANSI escape sequences get dumped to the screen at certain times (when checking the inventory list, if you know NetHack). But the interesting thing is, this doesn't happen when i open up NetHack from within screen(1); and if i try passing 'screen' as the value for '-ti', it doesn't work. So what i've done is made a copy of the vt100 terminfo file, and have been going through that copy and altering terminfo variables one at a time, to match the values of the terminfo variables for the screen term. i'm most of the way through, and still no dice. :-(

Thanks for your efforts!

in a car that was manageable but on PT that involved VLine/bus and MET.
and the cost were far greater than the car. it also took 3 times as long.

but i have to say the area the chesire bitten and not in denial are is a nice part of town :)

and hierodule- i feel you pain.
im sticking to fighting bills troublesome OS today.

Indeed - so much beautiful greenery! Especially on the Belgrave line between Ringwood and Heathmont. :-)
