So just how important do people think it is to ensure that they are not 'obese'?

This important:
The 4,000 respondents in varying numbers between 15% and 30% also said they would rather walk away from their marriage, give up the possibility of having children, be depressed, or become alcoholic rather than be obese. Five percent and four percent, respectively, said they would rather lose a limb or be blind than be overweight.

[ Some people would give life or limb not to be fat ]

I'm medically obese (via BMI) and it's not so bad. Then again BMI is such a useless measurement that it skews obesity statistics and brings about loads of health scares.

Yeah, technically i'm just into the BMI 'obese' range myself . . . . others have made better critiques of the BMI than i could do here, but i do think that, apart from anything else, the BMI probably wasn't designed with trans people in mind. :-P

BMI wasn't designed with all sorts of body types in mind. Not just trans people. People who live up to BMI standards often do so through serious undereating. It's a useless measurement.
