2006-07-24 19:53For a while now, i've known that achieving what i want to achieve with Pleasure Activism Australia requires certain things of me:
Unfortunately, i simply can't meet any of the requirements on the list. i used to be bitter and resentful about this - but not anymore. i do still think that it's ludicrous that in our society, ideas tend to be judged less on their own merits than on the physical and behavioural characteristics of those promoting them - but that's how it is. Whinging about it isn't going to change it (to change it, i'd need to meet the requirements list! :-P ). And continuing to struggle with Pleasure Activism Australia, knowing that i don't have what it takes to really make PAA a happenin' thang, is just silly. It's an inefficient use of my limited time and resources.
So i've decided to pull back from my involvement in various sexuality-related groups. Doing so will allow me to spend more time focusing on spirituality and magick, and on mathematics and programming - areas in which i know i either have talent or latent talent, and which don't necessarily require me to have and/or do the things on the above list. And i think i'll be a happier, more productive person for it.
- The need for me to be an extrovert;
- Related to this, the need for me to be good at social networking, and to be willing to engage in it constantly, and without shame;
- Similarly, the need for me to be good at behind-the-scenes politicking, and to be willing to willing to engage in it constantly, and without shame;
- The need for me to be regarded as sexy/attractive/desireable by a wide range of people.
