Today i finally got the vasectomy i've been wanting to have for years. The whole experience was all very positive - friendly and professional staff, minimal discomfort afterwards. The op was performed under general anaesthetic, which was an entirely new experience for me: i'm not even sure i've ever had a local, let alone a general, anaesthetic, so going under and then suddenly being in the recovery room was a bit weird. Albeit not as weird as the experience of being wheeled on a trolley to the theatre (though when i was being wheeled back from the theatre, i was still too groggy to care :-) ).

So it's done, yay!

I've considered it several times, every time partners have protested VERY loudly... Hope you aren't too tender.

Thanks - i'm a bit tender, but nothing significant.

Yes, this issue is often a big bone of contention between partners. In my particular instance, i'm fortunate enough to have one partner who is very definite on not wanting to have biological kids herself, and another who already has children and who respects my decision to not want to become a biological parent herself.

So if i may ask, what's the situation like for you in this regard at the moment?

Single and pretty damn sure I don't want kids, but not willing to limit long terms by getting a vasectomy ;)
